We have an opening for Dean (Engineering and Information Technology) at our Chattanooga State campus!
The role will be responsible for the following:
a. Provide leadership in establishing and maintaining goals, objectives, and standards for programs in the division; in technical areas; work with community advisory committees; initiate and/or support and supervise the development and review of curriculum and programs; maintain standards appropriate for program accreditation established by SACS, ABET, ACBSP, and ATMAE; ensure adequacy of program review for relevant accrediting bodies.
b. Develop and maintain relations with relevant external agencies, business & industry, or organizations; seek funding from external sources for innovative programs or projects when appropriate.
c. Recommend employment, supervise, evaluate and recommend promotion and/or tenure for faculty; ensure that appropriate support, conflict resolution and faculty/staff development is provided to full and part-time faculty.
d. Develop, manage, and oversee budgets in areas of responsibility; ensure compliance with budgetary restrictions; ensure optimal allocation and utilization of resources (fiscal, human, operational) within the division.
e. Assist and advise Department Heads and Program Directors/Coordinators.
f. Represent the division within the college and to the general public; direct and/or participate in college-wide projects and committees as appropriate; oversee and develop physical facilities assigned to areas of responsibility; serve as a member of the Deans Council.
I. Teach courses and remain current within discipline, related occupational areas, and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college, TBR, professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations by attending meetings and serving as officers.
j. Perform other job-related duties as assigned and as needed.
- Masters Degree in engineering, computer science, technology, or closely related technical field from a regionally accredited university or college, with demonstrated leadership and administrative responsibilities.
- Three years in higher education and three years in business/industry with demonstrated leadership and administrative responsibilities.
Higher education experience including teaching, supervising faculty, and going through the promotion and tenure process.
