We have an opening for Librarian 3 (Public Services) at our Chattanooga State campus!
The role will be responsible for the following:
-Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates department mission, goals and objectives, policies and procedures.
-Schedules, organizes, and manages departmental staffing and work assignments; trains and supervises departmental staff involving the use of materials, databases, and web resources, Circulation and Interlibrary Loan functions and library policies and procedures.
- Communicates with the stakeholders in Library services to meet needs and to develop new services to meet changing needs.
-Defines success benchmarks in order to assess public service efforts.
-Prepares classroom presentations and instructional materials in print, electronic, and web formats; teach classes involving library skills and research methods in the electronic classroom; conduct individual assistance as needed; evaluate instructional materials and methods for effectiveness.
-Prepares research and reference tools in a variety of formats.
-Serves as library liaison with assigned academic departments.
- Coordinates the Departmental Library Liaison Program.
-Evaluates materials for inclusion in the library’s collections; inventory and evaluate current library holdings; weed outdated materials.
-Compiles statistical data and prepare reports.
-Trains and supervises student workers assigned to work in public service areas.
-Provides patron services at the service desk.
-Meets with other Library Coordinators to advise the Dean on various library related matters.
-Follows current trends in Librarianship, education and marketing/outreach efforts.
-Promotes, supports, and participates in student recruitment and retention efforts.
-Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and training: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution.
-Experience: Three years full-time experience managing public services or serving as an Access Coordinator/Manager in an academic library setting including but not limited to access services, reference or public services; - Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Supervisory Experience managing full-time librarians/staff
Experience: Fluency with Alma/Primo Fullfillment Fluency with LibInsights (and other Springshare products)
