We have an opening for Dean, Tennessee College of Applied Technology at our Chattanooga State campus!
The role will be responsible for the following:
-Provide leadership in establishing and maintaining goals, objectives, and standards for programs in the division; in technical areas - work with community advisory committees; initiate and/or support and supervise the development and review of curriculum and programs; maintain standards appropriate for program accreditation; ensure adequacy of program review for relevant accrediting bodies; develop and maintain relations with relevant external agencies or organizations; seek funding from external sources for innovative programs or projects when appropriate -Recommend employment, supervise, evaluate and recommend promotion and/or tenure for faculty; recommend retention or dismissal as appropriate for faculty and staff; ensure that appropriate support is provided to full and part-time faculty; act to resolve conflicts among personnel; encourage and support faculty/staff development -Develop, manage, and oversee budgets in areas of responsibility; ensure compliance with budgetary restrictions; revise budgets at appropriate times each year to supplement accounts requiring adjustments; ensure optimal allocation and utilization of resources (fiscal, human, operational) within the division -Prepare and manage the Perkins grant application(s) and submit reports to the board office as needed; prepare other grant applications and oversee grant activities -Prepare reports for the division, campus, and TBR -Respond to student concerns and work with the Judicial Affairs Department on student discipline -Assist and advise Department Heads or Program Directors/Coordinators in creating master class schedules, assignments of faculty, ordering of textbooks, incorporating appropriate instructional technologies, and other tasks associated with delivery of instruction by the division; respond to faculty concerns Position Requirements:
-Education: Master?s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a discipline related to programs offered in the TCAT; full-time teaching experience in higher education; and at least three (3) years full-time administrative experience in higher education
-Prefer: Doctorate Degree
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge: Knowledge of leadership principles and techniques; principles and techniques of higher education; pedagogical principles and learning styles; principles of a comprehensive community college; technical education and its role in our community -Skills: Skills in developing and implementing academic programs; management of an academic instructional division; strategic planning, implementation and evaluation; program review; oral and written communication; problem-solving and conflict resolution; computers including spreadsheets -Ability: Ability to provide strong leadership in the instructional division; to interpret and apply federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and procedures; to maximize information/communication systems available in performance of job responsibilities; to apply current technologies to the appropriate academic disciplines; to work in a collaborative environment; to represent the college in the community; to serve in an advocacy role within the parameters of the position; to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships; work overtime without additional compensation when needed -Communication: High functionality in oral, written, and interpersonal communications
