SUPERVISOR - HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
Responsible for the supervision and training of all department staff and processes that include incoming and outgoing records.
Needs to have a strong working knowledge of the HIPAA guidelines as well as all departmental processes and procedures related to filing documents into the EHR and releasing documents to other entities.
Essential Responsibilities: Supervise and train staff on all department processes that include all incoming and outgoing records.
Understanding and working knowledge of abstraction and coverage for supervisor in that area.
Working knowledge of the process requests for requesting medical records.
Work the fax line for faxes that failed to send to outside providers.
Answer phone calls from patients, staff and/or other providers or facilities.
Work the internal electronic records and referral transmission as well as those coming from outside offices and send email to clinical daily.
Review and facilitate patient portal questions and requests.
Work Rosetta and electronic processes related to this software.
Ensure that documents are placed in patient chart in an accurate and timely process.
Utilize and manage multiple computer programs.
Manage and monitor processes in EHR PAQ.
Manage and monitor the transcription Emdat system and office notes in EHR.
Ensure HIPAA compliance within the department.
Work with leadership on processes and policies.
Conduct quality assurance audits routinely.Education:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 1 year experience in the discipline OR 3 years' experience in the discipline OR Master's Degree and no experience
Experience: Experience in a medical office environment utilizing electronic document systems.
Supervision of a health information technology department or other previous supervisory experience.
Knowledge of HIPAA policies and practices.
