CITY OF CLEVELAND DEVELOPMENT AND ENGINEERING SERVICES
The City of Cleveland is accepting resumes from qualified individuals for the position of Planning Director in the Development and Engineering Services Department.
Qualified applicants will possess a high school education or GED equivalent with a minimum of four years related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
A Bachelor’s degree in planning or related field is preferred.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES of the position include: Advanced technical and professional managerial, administrative and supervisory level work in the Planning division of the Development and Engineering Services Department.
Coordinates administration of the City's current and long-range planning function, land-use management and zoning.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Performs research, provides documentation and proposes changes to City ordinances related to zoning and land development; Provides specialized technical reports and information on planning and grant availability; Interprets zoning ordinances and maps; Sets Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals agendas and prepares or obtains pertinent staff reports; Attends Planning Commission, other advisory or governing board meetings as directed by the Director; Assist the Director in preparing and maintaining departmental budget;
Prepare special planning studies such as new zoning districts, annexation proposals, specific plans, and design criteria; Responsible for securing outside funding sources including research and grant applications; Compiles and analyzes data on economic, social and transportation physical factors affecting land use and prepares or requisitions graphs and narrative reports on data; Assists the Chief Building Official and City Engineer in plan preparation, administration and enforcement as required and other duties as assigned by the Director of Development and Engineering Services.
Proof of education and experience and valid driver’s license are required.
