CLEVELAND UTILITIES WASTEWATER PLANT SUPERVISOR
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Supervisory/administrative functions of the wastewater treatment facilities in order to achieve maximum compliance with the plant’s NPDES permit as required by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and optimization of plant processes.
Supervision, guidance and training of all Treatment Facilities personnel and overseeing their work.
Ability to perform supervisory/administrative functions, including but not limited to hiring decisions, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
Preparation and submittal of regulatory reports to TDEC relating to treatment facilities.
Development of long-range capital improvement plan.
Evaluate operations and equipment standards to ensure compliance with NPDES permit and other regulatory, engineering, technical and safety practices.
Provide technical and administrative assistance to other departments within the treatment facilities departments.
Prepare wastewater departmental annual fiscal budgets.
Active involvement with construction and maintenance activities of the wastewater treatment facility.
Manage plant required inventory of supplies and equipment as required.
Performance of other related work as required by Manager
Bachelor of Science Degree (four-year accredited college/university) Required; Field of Study in Engineering, Preferred; or Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science.
Operation of wastewater treatment plant preferred.
Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License or ability to obtain in 2 years.
Ability to work well with others while demonstrating a positive attitude.
A valid Class “A” Tennessee Driver’s License.
Available to work after hours when needed.

Ability to lift material weighing up to 100 pounds.
Ability to use wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Ability to wear self-contained breathing apparatus for extended periods of time.
Ability to manipulate high pressure water hoses and enter/exit manholes unaided.
Ability to ingress/egress confined spaces i.e.
treatment basins. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
