Coordinator, Financial Aid

We have an opening for Coordinator, Financial Aid at our Chattanooga State campus!
The role will be responsible for the following:
• Administer the TN Promise scholarship program. • Administer Chattanooga State Foundation scholarships in partnership with the Office of Advancement. • Coordinate an annual Foundation scholarship review committee to meet Foundation award requirements and the accurate, equitable administration of donor-funded resources. • Coordinate and manage the Academic Service scholarship program, including student work assignments, monthly timesheets, and communications with staff and students. • Ensure monthly and annual balancing of institutional and state funds in coordination with the Bursar’s Office, Office of Advancement, and Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation. • Coordinate with the institutional Athletic Department to administer athlete resources and waivers. • Use Tennessee’s FAST certification system to verify eligibility, certify payments, balance monthly expenditures, and update student records. • Use the institution’s scholarship application software to set up scholarship resources. • Represent the Financial Aid Office and college at on-campus and off-campus events, such as orientation, high school visits, FAFSA nights, conferences, workshops, and other activities. • Provide customer service functions with colleagues, including responding to student email inquiries and phone calls, and advising students, families, and other stakeholders. • Assist with the development of training resources for internal and external stakeholders and students. • Maintain updated policies and procedures, including institutional, athletic, Foundation, and Tennessee Educational Lottery Scholarship regulations. • Perform other reasonable duties as needed to ensure efficient operations of the Financial Aid Office and partner departments.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution, with experience working in finance, K-12 education, higher education, or student financial aid.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in a related field with 3-5 years of experience in higher education or student financial aid. Experience with Ellucian Banner or a similar Student Information Systems, Microsoft Excel, and accounting software.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position will require knowledge of state, federal, and institution regulations and guidelines for individual scholarship and grant eligibility, as well as the ability to work independently and make professional judgments. The Coordinator also needs strong communication and collaborative skills to work closely with outside offices, as well as represent the college at on-campus and outside events. Time management and analytical skills are critical, as the individual in this role must meet specific deadlines throughout the year and carefully review information for eligibility and accuracy.
