We have an opening for Counselor (Center for Access and Disability Services/CAADS) at our Chattanooga State campus!

 

The role will be responsible for the following:

Assess individual needs of students on information contained in psychological, educational and medical reports -Coordinate support services for students with educational, physical, psychological, sensory, and chronic medical disabilities; coordinate notetaking services for students with disabilities; serve as primary liaison between CAADS and campus military veterans program; provide admission assistance and general advising; provide assistance to the Director of CAADS in the preparation of various reports and office operations (student records, testing results, etc.); promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention effort -Provide service excellence within our customer service interaction with students; perform other job-related duties as assigned


Position Requirements:

Education and Training: Master’s degree in education, special education, psychology or related area; OR a Master’s degree plus relevant work experience as noted below.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience: Two years’ experience working with adolescents or adults with disabilities, preferably in the higher education setting. Proficiency in using and understanding American Sign Language

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge: knowledge of ADA and Section 504 regulations and guidelines; knowledge of specific disabilities and their impact on learning at the college level; knowledge of and experience in the use of accessible technology for students with disabilities -Skills: Skills in oral and written communication; interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; computer skills (data entry, word processing) -Abilities: Ability to interpret diagnostic assessments; ability to operate adaptive equipment; ability to use a computer for data entry and word processing functions.
