The role will be responsible for the following:
The Director of Marketing & Communications directs the Office of Marketing & Communications. The director is responsible for strategic marketing and communications planning and execution, office budget oversight, direct contact with vendors, management of personnel, publications, official website, social media and other digital media, brand development, media relations, advertising, external communications, and guidance regarding internal communications.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Direct the strategic planning and implementation of the College’s marketing and communications efforts:
Work collaboratively with senior staff and representatives from other offices to meet annual recruiting goals.
Create and administer the College’s integrated annual communications plan and related marketing campaigns; develop strategies to target various markets; and monitor and evaluate success for effectiveness.
Lead and manage a team of marketing and communications professionals, promoting a culture of service, excellence and high performance.
Prepare, manage, monitor and evaluate departmental budget for efficiency and effectiveness.
Supervise the production of print collateral, digital media and other branded strategies, including production schedules.
Direct the strategic development and management of the College’s official website, social media and other digital strategies.
Serve as editor of the College Brand Book and Editorial Style guide; maintain College trademarks; ensure consistent use of college name and logo internally and externally; maintain publication numbering system for yearly report to TBR; maintain accurate policies and procedural guidelines for the Department of Marketing and Communications, including, but not limited to, compliance with TBR policy, SACSCOC accreditation standards; College Digital Accessibility policy and universal design.
Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment efforts.
Supervise the development of The Viewbook, associated Enrollment Guide, and the Annual Report publication which are indicative of the College’s exceptional reputation.
Serve on various college committees including the Strategic Enrollment Management team, Marketing & Recruiting committee, and the Student Success Communications committee.
Direct and manage College advertising and branded promotional product purchases.
Rapidly create content, including scripts for ads, news releases/stories and weekly communications to students and employees.
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of College Advancement and Public Relations.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or related field.
Minimum of eight (8) years of recent and increasingly responsible role in marketing, communications, and/or public relations.
Demonstrated experience effectively managing personnel, with specific experience in hiring, training, coaching, and managing high-performance team.
Experience in overseeing the development and production of print collateral, digital media and advertising.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience at community college/higher education.
Experience in storytelling, digital and social media engagement, journalism, and media relations.
Certification in APR (Accredited in Public Relations) or Master’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field.
