We have an opening for Grounds Worker 2 at our Chattanooga State campus! The role will be responsible for the following: Determine/perform basic horticultural tasks and techniques (pruning, trimming, spraying, cultivating, fertilizing and watering plants); inspect plants for diseases/pests; mix and apply insecticides, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers; landscape areas for planting flowers, trees, and shrubs; mix soil and cultivate areas for planting -Perform basic grounds maintenance tasks (mowing, planting, and removing trash): maintain campus lawns using lawn equipment such as mowers, trimmers, rakes; fertilize and water plants as necessary; remove garbage from trash containers; replace liners; pick up and remove trash debris from grounds, walks, and streets; transfer garbage, trash, and debris from grounds using motorized vehicles -Maintain pavements by painting, patching, and installing signs and parking bumpers; repair paved areas; paint lines; install parking bumpers; install signs as needed for traffic control, building identification, or special events -Provide various equipment for special events; set up tents, tables, chairs, etc.; move equipment upon request; remove and store tents, tables, chairs, etc.; maintain/service equipment -Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts -Perform other job-related duties as assigned Position Requirements: -Education and Training: High School diploma or GED and valid driver’s license Preferred Qualifications: Education and Training: Preference given to candidates with experience in horticulture work or grounds maintenance work Closing Date: 2/19/2021 Open Until Filled: Yes Requisition Number: req5285
