is accepting applications for the following position:

Education Instructor

Tenure-track Academic Year

 

Instructors provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment in the class.  The major emphasis for instructors is on teaching and evaluating students in the course.  Classes are taught in a variety of formats and at several different locations, as well as online.  Instructors also communicate with students between classes and are responsible for several administrative duties such as committee work, assessment, registration, and advising.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi and departmental guidelines. 
*Fulfill all instructional requirements as mandated by Cleveland State Community College and the College System of Tennessee.
*Remain current in instructional field and teaching methodology. 
*Devote a minimum of 37.5 hours per week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hours, and secure approval for any commitments which might affect employment.
*Be accessible to students for advisement, academic help, and assistance depending on instructional format.
*Participate in institutional and academic unit meetings.
*Maintain and safeguard all necessary records and report grades periodically as prescribed by the Registrar.
*Comply with Cleveland State Community College and the College System of Tennessee Policies and Procedures.
*Participate in periodic evaluations.
*Support and participate in the recruitment and retention efforts of the college.
*Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

*A Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or related field from a regionally accredited institution or Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of related qualifying fields. Experience with alternative delivery instructional modes – hybrid, online, interactive, etc.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

*Three years teaching experience.
*Preference for applicants who can or have taught  courses on special education and/or educational psychology.
*Experience teaching courses in the Pre/K-12 Education program including, but not limited to introduction to education, and courses related to curriculum design, pedagogy, instructional strategies, teaching methods, and pedagogical content knowledge for all education majors (birth-grade 12).
*Experience with placement of student teaching interns and/or interest in organizing educational opportunities for students, faculty and staff.
*Experience supervising clinical field placements, mentoring and supervising student teachers, and advising students across early childhood education or education programs.
*Willingness to expand our education career community through high quality teaching and steadfast, strategic recruitment of students.
*Experience advising student professional organizations.

SALARY RANGE:  $37,740 - $47,180
