Cleveland Utilities, a municipal utility providing electric, water and wastewater services to the Cleveland,
Tennessee/Bradley County area, is seeking a Crane Operator to utilize hydraulic cranes in the operation and
maintenance of water treatment, wastewater treatment and water distribution systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Operate and maintain mobile truck hydraulic cranes to lifts, set and place equipment, material, and heavy
objects.
• Perform heavy rigging functions for heavy lifts and long boom work according to standard safety
procedures using wire ropes, chains, and slings.
• Safely performs specialized activities such as out-of-the- ordinary rigging and setting up cranes under
potentially hazardous conditions, such as uneven or soft terrain, around overhead power lines, in the
public right-of-way and around structures.
• Assist in other departments with the installation or removal of equipment and materials needed to
complete a project; transports heavy equipment such as: man lifts, forklifts, piping, equipment, pumps,
etc. utilizing a truck and trailer.
• Assist in the performance of skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, installation, servicing,
maintenance and repair of a variety of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and machinery,
such as pumps, piping, valves, and electrical motors.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to determine if systems
are installed and operate properly.
• Assist with the performance of preventive maintenance program duties on a variety of pumps, motors,
valves, equipment, mechanical and electrical systems, and machinery.
• Other duties as assigned by supervision/management.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• High-school diploma or GED, required.
• Three plus years of experience in operation of overhead cranes, heavy equipment, mechanical
maintenance, and repair as it pertains to pumps, motors, valves, and other related systems
preferred.
• Basic understanding of computer maintenance management software and its application/operation
desired.
• Valid Tennessee Class “A” Commercial Drivers’ License.
• Valid Certified Crane Operator license (TB<21 & TB 21-75) or the ability to obtain Certified Crane
Operator license (TB<21 & TB 21-75) within one year of employment.
