Job Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to provide extended first-tier support to faculty, staff and students. This entails troubleshooting problems via phone, email or walk-in contacts, and includes diagnosis of problems with hardware and software. Also included are: setup and installation of systems aligned with TTU ITS standards and policies, account maintenance, and technical documentation. This position must have an extended knowledge of applications and operating systems beyond typical first-tier support (such as our trained student workers). During times of low ticket volume, may be temporarily assigned to other duties within Academic & Client Technologies (ACT).

Essentials Functions:
- Performing advanced troubleshooting of hardware and/or software issues for faculty, staff, and students to resolve calls in one-stop.
- Performing advanced hardware or software installations for faculty, staff, and students
- ITS technical documentation (public and internal)
- Providing assistance to patrons walking up for technology checkout assistance and lab patrol maintenance.
- Supervising and training student workers to provide lower-level support to
faculty, staff, and students.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent university credit hours) from an accredited institution OR 60 university credit hours AND five years relevant experience. Demonstrated excellence in communications and interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to details. In-depth technical knowledge of Windows and Mac OS X operating systems, as well as application software (including work processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet browsers, and email clients).
Preferred Qualifications: |
Experience providing technical support in a higher education environment. Advanced technical knowledge of Mac OS X and Windows, multimedia equipment, instructional technology tools, and hardware. Experience with enterprise-level remote deployment tools. |
Work Hours: Typical hours are Monday – Friday, 8AM – 4:30PM. |
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience; Clerical and Support Pay Grade 11. |
