Senior Analyst
Job Purpose:
This is position supports the University planning, evaluation, and managerial process within Academic Affairs by developing detailed reports, querying relational database(s) and conducting analyses. The position engages with all aspects of the data collection/reporting process including the design and implementation of internal studies; development and/or management of databases suitable for longitudinal studies and statistical analyses; determining factors that best support the University decision making process. This position is responsible for research and planning activities under the direction of the Director of Institutional Research and in coordination with the Research Analyst, so an ability to work effectively as a team member is a core aspect of this position.

Essential Functions:
Coordinate, prepare and submit data for external research studies (e.g., Delaware Cost Study, CSRDE, NC-SARA, Common Data Set). Research, prepare and submit reports to governmental agencies (e.g., IPEDS, TBR/THEC). Respond to ad-hoc requests for information, including the creation and revision of SQL queries to extract records from databases. Extract, manage, and maintain complex data sets from the institutional data systems, including Ellucian Banner and Access databases. Coordinate, prepare and oversee the Faculty Evaluation of Senior Administrator survey process. Responsible for other related activities in support of University decision making like the development of institutional dashboards on PowerBI & SAS Viya platforms.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in educational research, business management, computer/information sciences, statistics, or other fields relevant to institutional research. At least two years of professional experience that demonstrates a balance of organizational, analytical, computing skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member. Candidates who demonstrate advanced computing knowledge/skills (e.g, Access databases, Business Information systems, and database queries), experience leading research projects, interpreting statistical analyses, coordinating large-scale projects and communicating results to a wide audience. Experience with Banner/Colleague and/or the development of SAS/SQL queries is necessary for this position. A high level of attention to detail and organization skill essential, along with a working proficiency with office software such as MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel. ·Experience with Banner/Colleague and querying relational databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master’s degree from an accredited institution in educational research, business management, computer/information sciences, statistics or other field relevant to institutional research. At least three years of professional experience that demonstrates strong computing, organizational, analytical skills that includes the development of advanced SQL queries in Banner systems. At least two years of professional experience creating, managing and negotiating large-scale relational SQL databases, dashboards, conducting advanced statistical analyses, leading research projects and communicating results to a diverse audience. Professional experience working with database or assessment tools or systems in higher education. Strong professional experience conducting statistical analyses.
Working Hours:
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m
Salary and Benefits:
Commensurate with education and experience. Tennessee Tech offers competitive benefit packages.
